Sengodu Foundation supports 300+ small farmers across Tamil Nadu with organic farming training, quality seeds, modern irrigation, and sustainable livelihood resources — building a future where the land thrives alongside the people who tend it.
Real numbers from the fields of Tamil Nadu — every figure reflects a farmer empowered, a soil restored, or a student enlightened.
Promoting chemical-free, soil-first farming across Tamil Nadu
Sengodu Foundation is on a mission to restore the health of Tamil Nadu's farmland — by helping small farmers move away from chemical dependency and back to the living, regenerative soil their ancestors knew.
Today, the majority of farmers across Tamil Nadu rely heavily on chemical fertilizers, a practice that has significantly degraded the natural characteristics and long-term fertility of our soils. We believe in a different path — sustainable, chemical-free agriculture that restores soil vitality, produces healthier food, and secures stronger livelihoods for farming families.
Sengodu Foundation promotes organic farming actively through hands-on training, resource support, and community education. Agriculture college students from institutions such as Karunya University in Coimbatore complete their internships directly with us — working alongside real farmers, teaching modern organic methods, and receiving invaluable grassroots experience. This cross-generational exchange of knowledge is something we are enormously proud of.
Beyond the field, we conduct structured educational programs for school students across 15 schools in the region. By teaching children about organic farming, green ecosystems, and the vital connection between healthy soil and healthy food, we are building a generation that will steward this land with care and consciousness.

Decades of chemical fertilizer use has degraded the natural microbial richness and water-retention capacity of our farmland. Our organic training programs rebuild soil structure, restore fertility, and make land productive for future generations.
Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are a crippling expense for small farmers. Through vermicomposting, biopesticides, and natural methods, farmers cut their input costs by up to 40% — directly improving their net income and financial resilience.
Certified organic produce commands premium prices in local and urban markets. Farmers who complete our training and transition to organic practices routinely achieve 25–40% higher returns on their harvests, creating lasting livelihood security.

Hear from the farmers, students, and volunteers whose lives have been transformed by Sengodu Foundation's agricultural program.
Before Sengodu Foundation came to our village, I was spending ₹8,000 a month on chemical fertilizers and still getting poor yields. After the organic training and vermicompost support, my costs have dropped and my soil is alive again. I never thought I would become an organic farmer, but here I am.
My internship at Sengodu Foundation was more educational than anything I learned in a classroom. Working directly with farmers across Tamil Nadu taught me how organic science translates to real fields, real weather, and real families. I am grateful for this extraordinary opportunity.
The drip irrigation system Sengodu Foundation helped us install changed our farming completely. We use 60% less water and our vegetables grow more evenly. In this district where water is precious, this technology has been life-changing for our entire community.
